Universal Design in Education, for Learning, and of Instruction (UDELI) Resources

This resource list is targeted for faculty, staff, administrators, and other educators in post-secondary education. The difficulty level of these resources vary, but generally resources have been selected that are not highly technical and that do not require a high level of disability or accessibility expertise.

View Videos About Disability, Accessibility, and Universal Design

UW-Madison's series of accessibility videos - Includes screen reading, screen magnification, web accessibility, and electronic text.

FAME - Videos are integrated into the various modules of their web-based tutorial.

DO-IT - Distributes videos on a variety of topics for both educators and students. Videos are free via the website, but can also be purchased on VHS or DVD.

 

Use checklists and evaluation tools

DO-IT's series of "Equal Access" checklists - Includes libraries, computer labs, financial aid, housing, and more.

Find materials that you can use to train faculty, staff, and administrators

ASD Project - accommodating students with disabilities in higher education (www.asdproject.org or asd.usu.edu)

DO-IT at the University of Washington - (www.washington.edu/doit)

  • Post secondary page - lists some, but not all post-secondary education related DO-IT projects
  • The Faculty Room - "a space for faculty and administrators at post secondary institutions to learn about how to create classroom environments and academic activities that maximize the learning of all students, including those with disabilities."
  • The Conference Room - "a space for staff and administrators at post secondary institutions to learn about how to create facilities, services, and resources that are accessible to all students, including those with disabilities."
  • The Board Room - "a space for high-level administrators at post secondary institutions to learn about how to create and facilitate the development of academic programs and services that are accessible to all students, including those with disabilities."
  • The Student Lounge - "resources to help students with disabilities prepare for and succeed in college."
  • AccessSTEM - Relates to making science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) accessible to individuals with disabilities.
  • DO-IT publications, including the "Equal Access" series

Specific Academic Activity Resources - Within the DO-IT Faculty Room - Covers a variety of component education activities, including large lectures, group work, test taking, fieldwork, and others.

Science and Math Resources - EASI

Faculty Room Knowledge Base - DO-IT - Search by keywords and other criteria to find information on a topic such as foreign languages, chemistry, math, or other topic area.
